ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup mashed bananas (3 medium)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweetened chocolate chips

instructions

  1. Grease the bottom and sides of a loaf pan, then in a medium-sized mixing bowl add in the flour, baking powder, baking soda and ground cinnamon.

  2. In a smaller bowl, mash the bananas and then add in the egg, vanilla, sugar and applesauce. Stir well to combine all the wet ingredients.

  3. Add the egg and banana mixture into the dry mixture and stir until moistened. The batter should look a little lumpy, but you shouldn't see any white flour. Then add in the chocolate chips.

  4. Add the batter to the pre-greased loaf pan and Bake in a 350 oven for about 50 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out fairly clean. When ready, cool the bread in the pan for about 10 minutes before slicing.
