First unroll the stromboli dough on a non-stick cookie sheet. Then using your fingers push the dough and flatten it a bit. Once you have it spread out enough, start to layer the ingredients. Keeping about an inch and 1/2 away from the dough edge.
When the filling is ready, it’s time to roll and seal. Fold the bottom edge of the dough to about 1/2 the filling and then take the top edge and cover the bottom edge. You want to make sure the dough overlaps. Then take a sharp knife and make some slits to allow some steam to escape.
Then brush the stromboli with an egg wash, this will make the crust golden brown and add a little shine. Lastly, add a sprinkle of basil and garlic powder for a pop of flavor.
After the stromboli bakes in the oven (between 15 -20 minutes) remove from the heat and cool for an additional 5 minutes. Slice it up and serve with a salad, extra tomato sauce for dipping or even a side of french fries and fruit. It’s a quick and easy meal that the whole family will enjoy.
