Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy Tips & Tricks
I like to make this on the weekends, when I can prep it right after lunch. Four hours on high in a crock pot is all you need to make the chicken nice and tender, but not mushy.
I typically use a can of mushroom soup and a can of chicken cream soup to vary up the flavor, but if you love mushroom gravy, use two cans of mushroom soup. If there’s a household rebellion to using mushrooms, just use two cans of cream of chicken, it’ll still be delicious and won’t change the cooking time at all.
After three hours in the crock pot, shred the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Now is also a great time to add anything else to the mix like peas or broccoli if you’d like to add more veggies to your meal.
The sauce or gravy is really pretty versatile, when it’s ready, serve over mashed potatoes, pasta, rice or even biscuits for a simple and delicious meal.
This recipe gets a three out of three positive kid rating. Which is a home run in this house hold. I usually add veggies as a side to help balance the meal out and they always lick the plates clean.
